FERN AND GLADE IS PLEASED TO PRESENT HELIOS
A GROUP SHOW OF WORKS BY TEN ARTISTS WORKING IN THE UK.
The sun, the star that guides the rhythms of our lives from the moment of birth, is in many ways such an integral part of art-making.The light that illuminates the world around us, that refracts through waterfalls, shimmers across lakes and allows leaves to photosynthesise all originates in the sun. Nature is light, light is nature, we are both.
In ancient Greek mythology and religion, Helios is the personification of the sun, seen driving a horse drawn chariot across the sky, bearing a radiant crown. This steady movement of celestial bodies above us could perhaps remind us to try and find balance in an ever more fast paced world.
This exhibition, ‘Helios’ brings together works by ten artists who are exploring the ways in which light, colour and myth influence our perception of the world. These works, like the sun are radiant and endlessly captivating, they remind us to slow down and deeply experience the world around us.
